GOEDGEDACHT
Goedgedacht is a South African rural project
situated in the Western Cape 87 Kilometres northwest
of Cape Town. It seeks to help rural children out of
deep and entrenched poverty. At present
Goedgedacht’s Path out of Poverty (POP) programmes
are working in eighteen rural villages in the
Western Cape.
A unique characteristic of the work of Goedgedacht
has been its determination to make their development
programmes self-sustainable in the long term. Over
the past 15 years the Claude Leon Foundation has
supported the Goedgedacht programme in several ways
– by assisting with the building of a dam, improving
literacy for farm workers, ensuring safe transport
for children, the planting olive groves and
upgrading of olive plant equipment - all of which
strengthen the self-sustainability of this important
work. |
