CONSTITUTION HILL DEBATES
The Constitution Hill debates comprise young
participants from 24 disadvantaged schools across
Gauteng. The debates take the form of round robins,
culminating in semi-finals and finals where the
winning schools are awarded books as prizes for
their libraries. The aim of the debates is to
encourage school children to learn about South
African history and constitutionalism and for them
to participate in a guided tour of the
Constitutional Court premises. The project
organisers believe that educating young people on
the Constitution and Bill is vital for the
entrenchment of constitutionalism in our country.
The Constitution Hill project received grants from
the Claude Leon Foundation in 2011 and 2012. |
